About Benji's Gardens
A Sydney garden maintenance business built on a genuine love of the craft — and an obsession with precise hedging.

The Person
Meet Benji
I started Benji's Gardens because I genuinely enjoy the work — and hedging in particular. There's a specific satisfaction in transforming an overgrown, shapeless hedge into something with clean geometry and real presence. It changes how a property reads from the street.
I work across Sydney's best neighbourhoods: the large acreage estates of the Hills District, the formal garden suburbs of the Upper North Shore, and the heritage streetscapes of the Inner West. Different contexts require different approaches — an estate-grade screening hedge in Kenthurst is a very different job from shaping a Federation-era buxus border in Haberfield, and I treat them that way.
Everything I do is fully insured, done with professional-grade STIHL equipment, and finished with a complete clean-up. I respect that I'm working on people's homes — not just gardens.

Questions
Frequently Asked
What areas do you service?
We cover Sydney's Hills District (Kenthurst, Dural, Glenhaven, Glenorie, Middle Dural), Upper North Shore (Killara, Pymble, St Ives, Wahroonga, Gordon, Lindfield, Turramurra), and Inner West (Five Dock, Haberfield, Balmain, Birchgrove, Hunters Hill, Woolwich). If you're on the boundary, get in touch — we'll let you know.
How quickly do you quote?
We aim to respond same day. Enquire by midday and we'll have your quote by the evening.
Are you insured?
Yes. Benji's Gardens carries full public liability insurance on every job.
Do you do one-off jobs or ongoing maintenance only?
Both. We do one-off jobs — a single hedge trim, a spring clean-up, a mulching run — and we offer monthly and fortnightly care plans for clients who want ongoing scheduled care.
Can you restore a badly overgrown hedge?
Often yes, depending on the species and how far it's gone. Some species (lilly pilly, murraya) tolerate hard reduction well. Others (leighton green, most conifers) don't regenerate from old wood — you can only cut back to where there's green. We'll assess it honestly and tell you what's achievable.
What's the best time of year to trim hedges?
It depends on the species. Most formal hedges are best trimmed in late spring after new growth has hardened, and again in late summer if needed. Buxus should be done when warm spells are coming — not heading into cold. Flowering hedges (camellia, murraya) should be trimmed after flowering. We work to the right schedule for your specific plants.
Do I need to be home when you visit?
Not necessarily — as long as we have access to the garden. Many of our clients aren't home during visits. We'll confirm arrangements when we book.
